Dear Goalie

Thank you for your excellent effort at the recent Try-Out Camp. I can see by your request for an evaluation that you are willing to work hard and learn at each set-back that life hands you. This asset will serve you well in your hockey career and further in life. I am always willing help those goalies that are Honest about their ability, Open-minded to new ideas, and Willing to learn. This is the H.O.W. of goaltending.

The following are a list of questions that you will need to answer to help you understand your evaluation at the recent camp. Please think these through carefully.

4. Association and Level of Play?
5. Goalie coaches you have worked with?
6. Describe your style of goaltending
(Butterfly, Standup, etc...)?
7. What NHL goalie do you think you emulate in style?
8. I hold my stick in my right hand?
9. After the 1st day of try-outs, where did you think you were in the
The following are a series of questions
about your tendencies, all goalies have them, and these do not mean a 100% nor 0% of the time. If you think about each question you will understand. If your are not sure leave them blank. Are you ready?
10. What are your best goalie skills
(i.e. positioning, laterals...etc)?
11. What are your weakest areas
(i.e. playing the puck...etc)?
12. Where do I see goals scored more often ?
(i.e. high corners, low, 5- hole, left side or right)
13. Where do the shots that get though seem to come from?
(Points, in-tight, rebounds, dekes, hash marks etc)
14. What is the angle of attack that I have the most trouble?
(moving from my glove to stick or stick to glove, straight-on...etc)
15. Which leg do I pick-up, plant my blade in the ice, then
stand up on more often? (left, right or both equally)?
After you have honestly answered each question, I will send further feed back to help you understand more about your game. This is an excellent opportunity to learn. I know you won't want to miss it. Have you answered each question to the best of your ability?
